For the record, I was one of the people you "dragged" in, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would buy the Blu Ray in a second if it had the original uncut release on it.

Thing is, splitting Grindhouse into two separate DVDs seems unusually stupid, even for movie executives. I've convinced myself it's a cynical plan to sell the amputated versions first, then cash in on the Uncut/Criterion/Superbit version later. I'm looking at you, George Lucas...

You're right about the different approaches Rodriguez and Tarantino used, and I can see why so many people reacted strongly against Death Proof. Tarantino made exactly the kind of padded out drive-in flick that would've come out in the late 70's, which I liked, but that's not going to go well for most people having finished watching Rodriguez's nitro-fueled best-of compilation tribute to grindhouse. I'm going to go ahead and join the "using 'irony' incorrectly" club and say the most ironic thing about Grindhouse is that in their attempt to create a double feature, QT & RR ended up pairing two films that don't go well together.
